Looks good, and its got a 2 year warranty. If it bubbles up or starts rusting from underneath in a year, they're supposed to take care of it.
I went to my neighborhood Maaco today. The manager told me that rust repairs only had a 90 day warranty. Does rust warranty differ from location to location?

My '85 is rusted there too. I'll be patching it soon, and I'll take some pictures.

once you have rust you have to take care of it yourself. POR15 is the way to go. never trust a bodyshop. never trust anyone actually, when you have a keeper.

Take it to Earl Scheib, he'll paint paint any car, any color for twenty-nine ninety-five! Riiiiiiight!
BTW Schieb can mean "scheme" in German or something else if spelled Scheiße.
Both of which are totally correct describing their work.

I own a body shop and know that materials alone in painting a car can easily run $1000 to $1500. They must buy paint by the 55 gallon drum.

Good luck
I have to agree with this 100%. There's a Maaco that I delivered to (body parts for dealer) and before I met this guy had the same disdain as most for Maaco.

This guy was caring and had great staff. I always enjoyed going in there because if someone screwed him, he'd be turning the air blue on the phone SCREAMING at them!! LOL. I even had my own order screwed up and the parts guy tried to tell him it was my ("the driver's") fault. I tell you, it was sure hard not to have a big grin as he tore into the guy and told him he wasn't stupid and would appreciate not being treated so and "Your driver is standing right here in front of me and I fully intend to tell him what you just said!" LOL.

I can't vouch for all maacos but I know that the one in Mississauga does (or at least DID as I haven't been there in about 2 or more years) an at least 'GOOD" job.

If you go in there and a big Eastern European older gentleman named George is screaming into the phone with a lot of words staring with "F", then you have the same guy. LOL.

The only way to repair rust is to cut it out and weld new metal in. He's offering a 90 day warranty because he probably going to use bondo or fiberglass or both which is a temporary fix.... not a bad one, as long as you understand that it's a temporary fix.

When you add it up and depending on what you are painting and what paint you plan to use, it can get up there.

A gallon of red paint (base coat) cost me around $400. If it was a European brand like BASF, I can see it get more expensive. If you're painting an SUV, you will need more then a gallon. When you add reducer and hardener to the base, the clear and the primers, it could get up there.

There are good cheap paints out there which cost a lot less like Omni and Dimension.

I know a guy who painted a hood for his Fiat 124 in Rustoleum using a roller and it came out really well after wet sanding. It still looks good after a Texas summer.

econo here in nashville shoots a car for $157. $250 with a clear. I'm sure their paint is cheap, but hey, not 6 times as cheap as whatever the $1500 guy shoots a car with. that's just plain impossible. think about it.

Take a look at the Glasurit® products on http://www.carpaintdepot.com/
Just a gallon of primer and a gallon of clear is $200 each. That's without the hardners and reducers.
The base coat will be a lot more expensive especially if it's red paint.

Your example is like comparing a timex to a rolex.

I do believe that you can get a decent paint job for less then $1000 in single stage ($1500 for a base coat clear coat). But not using these paints.

I believe that Glasurit® is what's used on Mercedes from the factory.

Just for kicks I stopped by the local Maaco for a quote on my 300D (peeling clear coat, straight body) and was quoted $1400 for a base coat/clear coat job. The paint on the cars on the lot looked OK, but from the amount of overspray on the window seals on the must be bad at masking. I am planning to paint the car my self in my garage.
