Damage to S600
I am about to purchase a 2001 S600 from a private seller and I received an e-mail this morning that she had been involved in a fender bender. She said there is damage to the front bumper cover up and the rear fender well. It's in the body shop now...is this serious enough to re-consider buying it? I'm getting a greal deal on it. Help!

It would bother me enought that I would be taking a trip over to the body shop to take a look. Remember later this collision will show up on CARFAX, make sure your great deal will still hold up then.

I would investigate the body shop as much as the body work. These cars use Water Borne base coat that is not messed with by some shops. If it is not base coated and cleared properly, it will look good at the time of the repair, but some time in the not so distant future it will not.
Another IMPORTANT thing to consider is the color. E.G., Silver is VERY difficult to match. Other colors are also difficult to match. On an MB, even the EVIDENCE of prior crash damage, no matter how minor, can seriously decreased the perceived value of the car. Good luck, |
