Weather Stripping On '80 240 D

I recently ordered new door seals for the front doors and have had an unreasonable time trying to make it work. I order the seals from ******** Arizona the manufacturer is Meyle, they appear to be the same as the ones offered here as replacements. After installation the drivers door is almost impossible to shut. It seems that the front side of the seal is wedging itself between the body and the door. Is it because its the wrong seal? Or did I somehow not install it properly? this seems impossible but I suppose it is not.

I have the exact problem with my 1980 240D! My installation was perfect, as I used a plastic wedge to install the strip in the grooves. But - even though I used new plugs (6 per door) and weatherstrip adhesive, the door still shuts hard!

My theory is that the product is not an original MB part. It is no doubt thicker than it should be around the door check. The only solution is to trim it slightly with a razor blade. I intend to mark the rubber with shoe polish (or some other stuff that can wipe off easily), slighly shut the door and see where the mark is. Then, trim there.

Any thoughts??

Same problem here with my '80 240D. Looks like we're starting a trend guys! I was about to go to town with my x-acto on it the other day.. I guess that's the only simple solution.

As I have said before in other threads.

The MB original equipment seals fit 100% better than aftermarket.

We can get the correct ones, but need your VIN#.

I have no idea what a hard boot is.
But to replace seals, its always good to have Windex or Silicon lube and a non-sharp wedge.
First clean the grooves real well! Sometimes previous owners glued in the seals (I don't think MB ever did).
