Rust Repair Solution

I just used a product I learned about on a BMW forum to repair the rust inside the trunk of my son's '80 BMW 528i. It's a product called POR 15. It kills exising rust and can repair holes as big as your fist using their special mesh.

Best of all, all you have to do for prep is hit it with a wire brush and vacuum the area, then brush it on. It dries rock hard and stops rust from spreading. It's not cheap, about $35.00 a qt. but it works and you don't have to do any prep work ie. media blasting ect, plus it goes a long way.

The guys who restore BMW 2002's swear by this stuff, so it has a track record as far as durability. It can be painted over using their special primer. (Another $20.00)

Tips I learned: don't open the can, poke two holes in the top; one to vent, and pour through the other hole. When finished, clean top and fill holes with screws. (When this stuff dries, it "welds" metal). Follow directions, use gloves and use a throw away brush.

They are located in New Jersey. Their phone # is 973-887-1999.

It's www.firstsives.org. They deal primarily with e12's (the origional 5's) but there are links to other sights. You might try www.roadfly.com too.

Where in Texas are you?
