I will be installing a new floor pan on my 81 300D since the driver side got rusted out from the seat suppor back. I will be using por 15 and deciding which sealer to use on the floor pan. Does anyone know name of the gray stuff plasted on the outside of the floor pan on the original floor pan or somethign comparable?

I've had good luck over the years with 3M Brushable Seam Sealer, available at most auto body/paint supply stores. I'd like to know what Mercedes used though. I'll bet that Wurth makes something that would work well too.
BTW, you really should weld that floorpan in properly. Por15 is not the answer for structural repairs. And be especially aware of welding floorpan joints near undercoating, which burns fiercely if ignited...

I'm not sure what the thick undercoating stuff is, but I know MB used cosmoline over that.

i will be welding the floor pan in and sealing it with POR15 and seam sealer. Just looking for a good sealer for the outside of the floor pan.

I used some crappy duplicolor spray on undercoating over POR-15. Now I need to scrape it off to put something that doesn't suck on.
