How to replace the hood liner with sunscreen

I replaced the hood liner on my 300 SDL today and took some pics to show how I did it.
1. Hood open to full swing.( I like these Benz's hood)
liner was long gone so I ran a wire brush on a drill across some sticky spots. mostly it was diesel soot.
2. I covered the engine well to keep any glue, dirt or water out.
3. cleaned with glycerine. rub it on and hose off. that stuff works great as a grease cutter. then just blow dry with air hose and towel dry. one last blast of air to catch any stray water.
4. cut the sunscreen in half. taped it with A/C duct silver tape. You can trim excess later.
5. coat both surfaces with regular Weldwood contact cement. especially the edges and struts on the hood.
6. after 30-45 minutes I tilt the hood towards me as I stand on the fender and manifold. I'm only 165LB so I figured it was ok) place the top then work the sheet down the center and out towards the sides. just smack it down and it will stay. then go over every square inch and press it together.
7. trim off excess that is not inside the edge trim metal, fill in any spots with those pieces and start to tape it all down.
8. tape the center seam and all edges.
9. I didn't get a pic but I am making a 12" x 8" insulated addition over the turbo area.
this screen is a neat clean job and keeps noise down, keeps heat from the paint job and it reflects any light back down into the engine compartment.
see next panel for more pics.

Noise reduction

I'm not sure how it was new but it's better than before.

Just curious why you elected to go w/sunscreen rather than original equipment. Like what you did.
