83 W123 body trim delete.

Has anyone done it?

When I got my car, it was in condition to be painted.. so all of the trim was off already. I think it looks sharp without trim, but I would like to see if someone has filled in and painted one of these vehicles without trim, and how it looks.

I did it with a W114 and was completely disappointed. The repaired/patched holes never seemed to blend with the paint and most of the plugs cracked within the first year. The W123 might not be quite as bad as the areas where the trim attaches is not as prominent or as raised as the W114 but you'll probably end up with the same results.

PITA to backfill the door and rear quarter panel areas also.

Looked good for about 6 months.

I welded the holes on the doors and body filled the fender holes. Didn't seem to make any difference regarding the cracking.

Some of the trim was removed from my 300TD when it was painted not long ago. It looks good. I still have the side trim, though. It wasn't all removed. It makes for a pretty cool custom look.
