Not just a paint colour question... Diesel engine paint!

Yes, this is a paint question, but it doesn't exactly belong in the body and paint area, because it is indeed diesel specific.

My '77 300D is painted in 404 - Milanbraun, a.k.a. Milan Brown. It's a factory clearcoat metallic, (I believe all the MB metallics were clearcoat paints even back then), and was apparently an upscale colour. Now, I've seen gasser W116's the same colour, but never a W123 of any kind, gas or diesel.

Just how odd is it to have a diesel this colour? Anyone else here have one, or know of one? How about just metallic diesles in general? Those seem much less common in general from what I have seen.

My 1979 300SD is Milan Brown. I love the color, but think it would be cool to have the darker brown and desert beige two tone.

I had an 83 300 that was tobacco brown with parchment interior. It looked sharp back then but not my favorite color now.

Ah. A diesel in Milanbraun! A higher class car than a 300D, but still, a diesel. have you also noticed the rarity of the colour? Seen any other diesels painted the same? There do not appear to have been many.

It's an awesome colour once you stop and think about it. Sort of a dark copper with a shimmery twist. The paint on my car is in such poor condition that you really can't tell what it should look like unless you look in the door jambs. It's grown on me, and I've decided when the time comes that I will paint it the same colour. It's much more striking with the creamy tan interior that I have now than it ever was with the orange-ish bamboo interior.

Besides, brown goes with everything, right? That means a brown Mercedes will never be out of style.

I don't know, sounds pretty sharp to me. Of course, some variety of medium to dark blue metallic with that parchment interior today would be absolutely stunning.
