Faded Paint on one panel
The paint on one body panel of my car is way more faded than the rest of the car. Was it bad paint from the factory or did someone repaint that section? It's an '87 300E.

More than likely, a bad re-spray. Is the paint metallic?

Faded paint could just as easily be someone was doing a machine polish and either forgot a panel (unlikely), or was killed in duty and the panel was left unpolished (also unlikely).
Or is it faded, like the clear coat is flaking/fading? That is somewhat of a normal occurrence on any 20 year Mercedes, unless it got garaged for most of its life. Otherwise this is indicative of of previous paint/body work. Which is all but expected on any used 20YR old automobile unless you are really lucky. Paint work is not a bad thing, as long as it was done by a good shop. A good spray/blend should be undetectable. But not all repairs are done at good shops.
