My rear passenger side fender on my '82 300D has some rust bubbles coming up, just above the wheel well area -- and I'm pretty sure the culprit is that water and road salt is getting underneath the rubber undercoating. Because of the curve of the "lip" of the wheel well, it is tough to get the stuff off in this area. I'm thinking of trying this product above to remove the rubber stuff -- then cleaning it all up and applying POR 15 or some rust converter solution.

Is there a better approach?

You could try it, but I doubt it would work. The vinyl undercoating from that vintage Mercedes is pretty tough.

Has anyone tried that product?
