Dealing with rust
I have some rust on the wiper arms, the front one and the rear, any suggestions on the best way to deal with this short of replacing the parts?
Thanks. |

I don't know if anyone has tried it on this site, but when it happens to my wiper I plan on removing it from the car then lightly sanding it and spray painting it black

The best way is by grit blasting the rust off.

Lots of work if you go down the POR15 route and you want an OEM satin type finish - if not POR15 make a top chassis coat in gloss... Alternatively you can buy KBS coatings chassis black in a satin finish that'll go straight over the top of POR15 (or the KBS equivalent) in one go... Tricky area to paint though as the hinged caps on the wiper arm bolt covers are likely to scratch your newly painted bits - let us know how you get on.

In their material they specifically tell you to use a top coat to prevent UV degredation.
The process itself is not hard -- but preparation and finish will require a good amount of work if you want a smooth finish.

I might go for the POR-15, learn to use it on the wiper arm and then... I have got a visible spot under one of my rear windows that I think is getting to the size of a quarter.

RustBullet is better than POR-15, requires less prep, and is UV protectant inherently.
