After some repair from an accident last year, I need to put the pin striping back on the front fenders of my 85 300D. However, I do not remember the details of how the stripe finished at the front end of the fender. The rear has the stripes open and trimmed off at a slant. On my 84, the stripes come together at the front and rear. Attached are some pictures. Grey fender is the rear of my 85. The black fenders are the front and rear of my 84.

The stripe on my 84 (black) is wide on top with a narrow stripe under it. It looks and feels like the top and bottom pieces were applied separately. Perhaps they were just cut apart when it neared the end. I am not sure. The stripe I purchased for the 85 (grey) is two wide stripes on a single strip of decal. It would be easy to cut off at an angle. It would take a bit more finesse to have the stripes come together like on the 84.

Was there a standard or was this done at the dealer in the USA and patterns varied from dealer to dealer?

That is a good picture. It is exactly how my 84 looks on the rear fender. I am wondering how the front looks, though, when the back is open and trimmed off at a slant.

I did a search on pin striping but did not come up with much. I'll have to expand my search beyond the "Body Repair" section.
