Hypothetical question regarding torque converter paint

G'day All,

Hypothetical question for you all:-

What if someone was silly enough to want to paint his torque converter 'cos after all it is one of those things that often get missed...

...do you think if he was careful not to apply it too thickly he could get away with using some of the POR15 engine enamel he's got left over from an engine rebuild?

I think you have too much time on your hands, so pick a color that pleases you most.

when you removed it was there paint on it? If none leave it a lone.

I might worry about the possibility of getting it too thick in one area and causing an imbalance.

POR15 is kind of thick, that said every aftermarket go fast, or just rebuilt TC I've ever dealt with was painted. Go nuts.

Thanks for the tips - I have no idea who would be crazy enough to do this though...

...but a quick search on google gives quite a bit on this subject...

...there was even a suggestion saying it would be good for a WTF moment - in which case it would be best to paint it bright pink!

I guess you could do it the same color as your brake calipers. Hypothetically speaking !!!

Army, I thought that in the Netherlands you only used two colors.

There is a lot of that here - but as I'm English I'm going for black (not that black is very English - but oh well - different strokes...)

Today I hypothetically saw a bright blue one at PNP in the scrap return dumpster.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

A thin coat of primer + paint will not generally cause issues.

POR15 is a massive coat = be prepared for balance/noise issues.
