W123 300D Hit a Deer !!

My second daughter (the same one who had her 300D totalled last July by a F-150) hit a deer last night ('84 300D - Amber's)

Her and her dad (me) handled it much better than the former accident. Both of us were calm and didn't have to apologize afterwards.

The deer was dead immediately and the car came through it pretty well. No fluids or hose problems. Just the passenger front corner and the passenger door (it still opens fine)

Don

Thumbs up Great to hear that everyone is ok. Re: Hit a Deer !!

Hello Don
Great to hear that everyone is ok.
Sad that the car got wacked.
Do you have enough parts to fix it, when the weather warms up?

Hit one a couple of years ago, but more like a side swipe. I think this suicide deer thing is becoming an epidemic.

Sorry to hear your misfortune, at least your daughter is alright.
As they say in the fights, if you think I look bad, look at the other guy! I bet it mauled that deer! While I've became almost paranoid looking for deer at night, I worry about it much more in the talon. Not so much that it'd probably "total" the car but that I might not be so lucky to just hit it and it fall over. More than likely I'd trip it and have a passenger in the car!

You have just failed the large mammal avoidance test... ;)

The damage doesn't appear too bad, you should not have much trouble getting it back into shape. At least nobody was hurt.

Feel like sharing some of your deer jurky with me?

I think your car looks great. There are over one MILLION deer hits per year in the United States.... Many smaller or newer cars have sloping hoods which might have directed even a non jumping deer into the windshield area....
Cars can be replaced.... people can not....

she was lucky in a way

glad no one was hurt. the damage to the car looks very repairable. remember the other members car (james /black cd) was completely wrecked by hitting a deer so this wasn't nearly as bad.

Thanks for all the support:

1. Yep, I have lots of parts for replacement and hopefully will arrest some of the rust.

2. Someone else snagged the deer. We have half a freezer of deer still

3. Very fortunate and thank the Lord that the deer didn't come through the windshield. This is the 4th deer we've hit in the last 13 years of living in the country.

Don

Don,

You and I are tied. We've each hit four, and my wife has hit three.

Glad you are all OK and have parts to fix it.

About 8 years ago, someone was killed (decapitated) when a car traveling in the opposite direction hit a deer and it flew up and over into their car path and went through the windshield. This was by our house next to the GM proving grounds.

sorry to hear about it

I just hit a deer in November and it was a scary incident (so fast) and ended up being a frustrating experience with the insurance co so I wish you much luck.

Sorry to hear about that. I am glad everyone is ok and it was not brown. Hope you get her fixed up again.

My mother hit a deer a little over a year ago in her CLK Cabriolet. Similar damage including the windshield and the top. The tab was well....You can imagine.

Take it easy!
