Road Paint splattered in wheel well
Hi all,
I must have driven across some freshly painted road striping in the last day or so. There is a yellow splatter of road paint in the wheel wells of both left hand wheels. Any ideas how to get them off? I have been told regaulr paint thinner won't do the trick and will damage the paint. Any advice is greatly appreciated! |

This is one time that dirty wheel wells would have really worked in your favor. I would take it to the carwash and blast it really close-up to see if it comes off. Really close-up, the pressure diminishes by the square of the distance from the spray tip.

Also, when you pressure wash the wheel wells you might want to try using some products..
Simple green automotive strength cleaner may weaken the surface of the paint making it easier to wash away. Before washing, apply the simple green and let it soak a while. You may also want to try a road tar & bug remover before hand to weaken the surface more, in addition to the simple green. apply it, rubbing it onto the splatters and let it set for a while. then apply simple green, and pressure wash. And lastly, after youve gone through these steps, try applying some paint cleaner- rub it onto the paint you are trying to remove. Because its not formulated like the paint on your car, the paint cleaners abrasive qualities may act like sand paper, removing layer after layer of the paint splatters. Good luck! And let us know what ended up working for you!

An expired credit card works well. If the paint is thermoset plastic, no solvent will work that wont melt the paint.
