Paint or not to paint

Morning my fellow Benz drivers.
i have a non-tech question or a question of taste. My 300sdl is in need of a new paint job. there is a Mexican car paint shop in Atlanta that i've been looking into. not only do they do regular paint jobs but they can paint art work too. should i just stick with the basic gold (original color) or get a lil Funky and have a picture painted on the hood? i'm leaning more on the basic but they have some beautiful art work also.

A lot of Benz purists will say keep it the same color, and will scold you for doing such a thing, I'm a Benz purist myself, but it's your car, and you do what you want. :)

I always wanted to get a VW Thing and paint it khaki with a maltese cross on each door. No swastikas, though (!). I put an RAF "meatball" sticker on the sidecar of my Vespa. That looks pretty cool!

Would you do it with a benz?

Avoid funky colors.....murals or Dingleballs around the windows.

if any of you are familiar with the show "GOOD TIMES" at the begining of the show there is a piece (art) by an artist name Earnie Barne (sp) and i would love to have that on my side doors. that or the Mona Lisa (smoking a square) on the hood.

I think you should go for some sort of artwork.... if it were me id go for some sort of european theme in keeping with the car. I think some sort of lion crest would be cool on the hood- somthing like the Peugeot lion emblem, but more intricate..... Id reccomend figuring out a color scheme that wouldnt look tooo robin-hoodish. I also like the crests of auto clubs, like the RAC and such. That would be a cool sort of desing to uuse!

i dunno, there are wayyy to many ideas running through my head, but if you do go for the artwork, HAVE FUN!

I have a problem when people in berkely ca, for instance, paint their MBZ diesels and turbodiesels hippy-style becasue theyre running bio-diesel. I think I dont like it because it looks sloppy and dirty. But if a professionsl shop carries out a design or murual or whatever, it wll no doub look 99% better than having an "art" car that looks like it was fingerpainted by kindergardeners!

It might be cool having a lion on the hood, and then smaller versions on the C-pillars (post between rear doors and rear windscreen). some lions are attached:

ive been wondering about painting mine black. all black except for the chrome.
shave the door handles off de-badge the grill/trunk and smoke out the lights.
i just cant choose between mirror tint or the limo black.

has anyone had experience with a change in color?

In my case i dont think too many people are looking for an original paint job SDL with 316,000 miles

or i could just add an extra 10 inches in width to the whole car.
;)

Nah... too classy. I don't see how you can improve any Benz, except maybe to add euro lights.

I've seen a VW bug with a yagermeister sticker across the hood...looked really nice and it was an interesting new addition to the VW
And its german too!

if it were me.. i'd stay with a straight color paint job.. but probably i'd use a nice metallic blue color.. hihihih.:P

but since it is your car.. do what would make YOU happy.....:D

Maybe once of these paint schemes

VW "Harlequin Golf"

(I kinda wanted to do that to my Corrado, but I happily sold it to someone else, not sure if my 240D would rock like this...)
