300SD fresh from the paint shop today
I only took one pic today.
 Next on the list is to get the interior redone, and possibly, a new or rebuilt cruise control amp.-Joe

Great looking car! I think it may be the same color as my 380SL which I thought was Thistle Green. I'm getting ready to paint my 300SD how much is a paint job worth in your neck of the woods?

How do you go about finding a really good paint shop? My 300E may need some paint work in a few years and I'm not sure where to start looking for a really good shop. I know I can just look in the phone book, but how do I tell the good and bad shops apart besides looking at some of the cars they've recently painted? Obviously looking at some of their freshly painted examples won't really tell much about how long the new paint will last. I know this from experience because a friend of mine had the hood of his '00 Nissan painted a few years ago. The paint looked great at first, but after a year it started peeling
 . The shop that did that was recommended by the insurance company  , so I'm wasn't surprised.

Did they just put a layer of apint over it or did they strip, prime, paint, then clearcoat?
