W123 300D hit by 19yo Girl, Need Two Doors in Orient Red

OK folks,

Got side swiped last night by a 19yo girl driving a 2003 Chevy C1500 truck. She didn't see me and tried to move into my lane. No damage to her truck. Truck appeared to be raised AND yes she had the lower back tattoo and a smoker. Sorry no fringe benefits

The collision drove me into the curb. No injuries, just annoyed. Good news is she has insurance, bad news its Progressive. Good news is I have State Farm.

Bad news is I need a left side drivers door AND maybe a left side passenger side door. Andrew in the Central Coast has been nice enough to offer to sell me two doors (requires paint), BUT I'd really like to get two really clean Orient Red doors.

Anyone out there have a set of really clean Orient Red Doors. It would have to be out here on the West Coast.

Since this will be an insurance claim, I most likely will have the body shop install the doors. BUT we'll see how this pans out.

Your best bet will probably be to paint-match the doors because red is a color very prone to fading and the ones you get may or may not match.

I expect to paint it just didn't want to paint inside the door and the door jambs too. Jambs don't seem to come out quite right unless the door is completely stripped. OH but then I get new door gasket rubber...........maybe I'm on to something.

TTIWWP. Of the girl, that is.

Can the doors be popped out and then repainted?

I'd hate to say it but I'll bet the insurance company will total it. Don't give in to their first offer, but you may have a hard battle to fight.

Why are you doing all this work for the Insurance company? They will likely just total the car out and send you a check for a couple of thousand dollars rather than even try and locate the parts, but either way it is their job to handle the logistics of getting it repaired. When they offer to total it out, negotiate a good figure and when you get the check then you can scrounge for parts if you want to but we all pay good money for service from these theives, let them work for you at this point would be my advice.

Also, try not to involve your (state farm) insurance if it is clearly the other driver's fault. If you collect from your collision insurance and they go after the other driver you probably will have to pay a deductible. If you go through the other driver's company and the other driver admits fault you will get 100% of the money without deductible and your rates will not be affected.

I've been through the "call the other company and have them pay for it issue". I carry a $500 deductible and my experience with SF has been excellent. I'll get my $500 back. I already have access to two doors. The passenger door may be salvagable. The quarter panel will only need a little bit of work. PLUS I'll get the hood repainted at the same time. Progressive is pretty bad when it comes to paying for claims. I'll just have SF subrogate the claim. Had the front and rear end checked yesterday and it was still in alignment. No damage. Just need the wheels re-polished, little scrapped up.
