pinstriping

What about removing pinstriping? I have an '89 300te I would like to remove the pinstriping and adhesive from. What is the best approach?
Thanks,
RL White

r l white re:pinstriping removal tool

3M sells a SCOTCH-BRITE brand molding adhesive and stripe removal disc. 4"x3/8".4000rpm. Part #07501. Instructions:"disc should be used on recommended RPM rated tool. 4 inch disc-4000 RPM (2500-3500 surface feet per minute)". Obviously they are cautioning the user not to use the disc with an air-tool device.

ASTRO PNEUMATIC TOOL CO. also sells a "SMART ERASER PAD",part #400E that is similar.

Good luck.

the easiest and best way to remove pinstriping and tape from automotive finishes is with an everyday hairdryer (unless the pinstriping is actually painted on, which is unusual). Warm up the tape and gently lift an edge with your finger nail, then warm up the tape and gently pull off.
