Paint polishing equipment suggestions ????
I have a right angle Black and Decker polisher...
but that is hard on my back when working low on a car... I have seen these round deals ... but as far as I can figure out they are all the ' Random Orbital ' type... which I think is worthless for this and for wood sanding also... just for the record.. I want a slow turning polisher with the symetrical handles so I can keep my back straight... since I can do deep knee bends all day long if I don't have to hold something off center like the right angle polisher... Any suggestions ? Thanks, Greg |

Greg, my favorite polisher to use came from Harbor Freight for $20, 6" pneumatic with a butterfly trigger. It's light, easy to get into tight spaces and uses only 4 cfm. Beats my high dollar electrics hands down.

They are to the left on the wall when you walk into the store Looks like the item number is 42966 - The trigger design is different paddle instead of butterfly
Oh they also have the 382 pc "O" ring assortment on sale for $6.99

Well, I think my Black and Decker right angle polisher is like 120 rpm's...
to keep from throwing the compound , if not the pad also, off onto the floor.. of course the compound is thrown onto your pants legs and shoes... Maybe I am missing a concept on polishing..... This is an interesting site... http://www.perfectioncarcare.com/prod_cat.htm?cat=10 |

Greg, That is the correct "lot" number. RPM variable to 800 +/-
I don't by my bonnets from HF get them off the MATCO truck, little pricey but good quality

RL my electric polisher goes to 3K rpm for finsh work 8" head, makes work go fast. It's important to understand the technique, I have seen burned paint, fortunately not by me.

I guess I could practice on mom's Lincoln
Maybe I should just get some new pads and backing plates and use what I have... I know I can do it without burning with what I have... and this is the 240 I am working on ... |
