Rust warranty
http://autos.msn.com/research/compare/default.aspx?c=0&n=3&i=0&tb=0&ph1=t0&ph2=t0&dt=0&v=t105028&v=t105591&icid=autos_546>1=22001
Nice article, comparing new BMW and MB wagons, interesting to me for the contrast in rust warranties - BMW @ 12 years/144k and MB at 4 years/50k miles. I thought 'this can't be true' but checked the MB website and it seems to be true (although a bit buried). This means if you drive your new MB 25k miles a year you have no rust warranty after 2 years - TWO YEARS. And in the best case it is 4 years. And this is a company that has had known rust problems in recent years. I don't understand how they get away with it, not just surviving, but seemingly thriving. This is a great country. |

But what do they cover? VW has a 12-year unlimited mileage rust warranty but it only covers perforated panels. It does not cover surface rust that does not perforate the panel. It's a pretty useless warranty.
