The problem:



The Solution: Cut out the rusty area, obtain a patch panel from a donor car and weld it in. I will be finding a patch panel this weekend and will update this post as the repair progresses.

I would be interested in recommendations for replacement padding under the carpets in the passenger compartment. Old padding has been removed on one side, and the other side has a replacement floor pan.

I don't need the insulation for heat reasons, I need it to dampen out some of the noise.

And, I don't intend to put back in the old carpet - instead, I'm going with rubber mats of some sort.

What I probably need is closed cell foam pads - just looking for source recommendations.

Ken, I have used a carpet padding from Home Depot. It has a vapor proof top layer to prevent spills from reaching the floor boards etc. Its about 1/2 inch thick. I also coated the floor panels with POR15 before laying the padding. Works great and its cheap.
