welding doors

The bottoms all four passenger doors and the bottom edge of the hatch are pretty rusty - I actually poked a hole through the bottom of the driver's door the other day.

I'm planning to take the doors off in order to do the work. Of course, I will take off the tex panels before I weld, but will it be necessary to remove everything from the doors (window motors and regulators, glass, vacuum parts, etc.)? Or would that just be too cautious?

anything you think might be overheated from welding should be removed.(plastic,rubber,ect....)

Welding doors

I'm not sure how easy they are to weld and how well the weld holds up with all the door slamming. It may be worth finding a set of rust free doors.

i would agree on the finding new doors because it would be easier. if the welds were done proper, they will be stronger than the base metal
