re-installing trim and red berries HOW????

Hi guys,

Apparently I dont know what to do. I pushed the berries into the fender, then tried to push the trim into them. This doesnt work. What am I doing wrong?

You did it backwards. You insert the berries in the trim first, then hold the trim up against the sheet metal and slide all of them so they line up with the holes in the sheetmetal. After you are SURE everyone of them is lined up , just push the trim on and it will stay there for another 20 years.

It was still a b**ch. The fender would flex in many cases.
The trim is on, but even now one of the berries is not fully seated in its hole.....

Okay, I just got in from the 1500 degree garage. I give up.

The FREAKING TRIM WILL NOT GO IN! I lined everything up, pushed, and no go. It goes in but wont seat. WTF IS GOING ON???????

I tried a front fender, and a door. NO GO. This is really frustrating beyond belief right now. I shoud just walk away for a moment.

On edit, the pic here is NOT what I was sent. THe "domed" part is open.

I have the best results with putting the red berries in first, then line up the trim
and push it.

I always do the berries on the trim first and it always works. Try putting one berry in by itself, just to see if it will snap in place.

Do you all just use the berries or do you also apply some adhesive/double-sided tape?

at this point I'll consider 86ing the freaking clips and just putting on adhesive tape. thats how disgusted I am with the 'red berries'

What if you gently heated them with a heat gun immediately before pushing them in?

Might be worth a try........

Align the berries with the mounting holes. Move the trim strip away from the car.
Gently warm the berries with a heat gun. Quickly move back to the car and press
in with the berries still warm.

This is what I meant........

anyone know if it's the same technique to replace the side trim with the white clips? do i just pop out the old (broken) ones, slide new ones into trim and push in? or do i pop out old ones, insert new ones into body and SLIDE trim onto them?
thanks

The red berries from ******** are not right. I just went through this on a customer car. Flexed the hell out of the door and bent the trim. Buy from these guys. http://www.b-dco.com/ they work perfectly every time but put the berrie on the fender first then push in the trim.

I used "red berries" from these folks, and was happy with the product, and happy with the price. Shipping was pretty quick also.
They fit perfect, and worked well. I also installed the berries in the fenders/doors, then rubber-malleted the trim piece tits in. Worked well, and I still have some left over......
