w126 300sd outside door trim question
I could blame someone in a parking lot, but the sad truth is that I "kissed" the edge of my garage with the edge of the rear door of my 1983 300sd!!
The little touch has pulled a bolt free at the rear of the chrome strip from whatever holds it in the door metal. The strip and the plastic bumper are a tad bent at one point. No paint or metalwork damage at all. I need to remove the chrome strip and plastic bumper on the outside of the rear door and straighten or replace it. From the manual it looks like this can be done without having to remove the interior door trim or anything. Has anyone done this job and have any hints? I assume all parts for this job will only be found at the dealer.... Thanks in advance |

Yes
It can be done, but takes an easy touch, not the one of the 900 pound gorilla. The clips probably can be ordered from one of the online places, but it is necessary to replace some if not all of the clips. The manual indicate to push up. Just follow the intructions in the 126 repair manaul.
