Anyone Painted Their W126 Cladding Body Color?

Trying to imagine what it looks like. Or maybe just a shade darker.

I have a light ivory car with the brown cladding. A little more contrast than I like.

Anyone done it and have pics to share?

I don't photoshop or I would try that.

Tim

I have painted the cladding on the TE and SL the body color and think it looks good. All a matter of personal preferences I guess. Haven't actually done a 126, but guarantee it won't look bad.

Here's mine white on white. Soon, I'm going to update to the smoother, 86-91 style cladding and spray it a very light grayish-white. Just to break up the monochrome look a bit.

I think an all-ivory one would be a bit funky.

Do you know any Photoshop users? You could experiment with all kinds of colors and get it like you want before you spray.

Lux, yours looks like Mistress's 126, Maxine. Hers in stock as far as I know, and it has a very light gray cladding with white paint on the rest of the car. A slight contrast does look good IMO. Good luck. Your car looks nice. I'd get an SD or SDL like that if I were buying a sedan.

My burgundy 500SEL had it done along with the bumpers, it was hideous before but really looks nice now.

Did you sell the Burgundy SEL, John?

Thanks for that. I asked her for pics in the 126 role call thread. There's a guy here in town with a 350SDL in the exact colors I want to use, but I've only talked to him once. I'd like to get the correct color codes. Thinking I can get them using a VIN and the Russian VIN site.

The bumpers, mirror backs, lower body cladding are painted in the body color on mine, and I am satisfied with that look on a black car.
