Where can I get factory paint for my 85 300D at a reasonable price?

All of the auto shops say the paint is very expensive. Is there a cheaper alternative that is at least close to the original color? Its light blue, kinda metallic almost.

Probably "diamond blie metallic", same as my '85.

I'm interested in the answer to this question too. I need to repaint the whole car, or at least the hood and top.

you will probably need to repaint the entire car. every body guy i know has told me that itll look like hell cause it wont match, since the original is faded. look closely above the door hadles and you can probably see small cracks in the paint/clearcoat already. just get it totally redone. its worth it.

Cheap? Take the gas door off and take it to Lowes for a color match of Varspar oil base enamel. About $13/qt

Better, find a auto paint supplier. Have them mix up the correct paint from the MB paint code. They may also be able to color match faded paint. Expect to pay maybe $40/qt.

Sherwin Williams

You did not state what you want to paint. Are we talking touch-up or more than that.

Sherwin Williams Automotive paint store will mix the color based on the color code of the car. You will find the color code on the nameplate under the hood. They actually knew where to look for it when I brought the car to the store.

They could only put it in a pint can, not an aerosol. I think it cost me $16. Mine was smoke silver 702? that I used for touch up.
