‘80 300SD…Door/Window?

Removed window regulator on passenger side, front electric window, to straighten regulator bracket since gears were out of alignment and was getting the clank- clank sound. Had to disconnect motor from regulator in order to be able to slide out regulator, then straightened bracket and lined up two big gears as best I could. When going back in was not able to re-attach window motor once I had regulator back in position, so I removed door check mechanism which gave me just enough room to remove motor. On my bench, I refastened motor to regulator and then tried to insert whole thing back in door, but not enough clearance along side front window track (the channel that accepts front window edge and runs the entire height of the door) to slide in the whole thing. Looks to me that some how I’m going to have to remove the window track in order to give me enough room? Have attached photo showing section of the window track.

Will appreciate any thoughts and, if I do have to remove that track, directions on how to do it.

thanks
Bill
