How to understand Color Identification Plate?
I'll have to say that I am at complete lost here.
I found the Color Identification Plate but can't figure how to decipher it. I am just repainting small rust spots and I am not close to be able to pay for a full restore of the car. My MB is white with gray underneath 190E 1991. The number on the plate are 1000818 3 201028 12 31 172 412 586 801 124636 444 221 860 470 222 8 147 491 250 531 340 (after previewing the previewing the post the numbers cant be place like on the identification plate... I'll try to take a picture soon) So much by reading here I figure that the 3 digits stings of numbers are the paint codes. So by what I can conclude my car have 5 different colors. I need the color code for the primary color. So if I guess correctly it would be 412 586 801 for the paint number? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. P.s. Sorry for any spelling or grammar errors as English isn't my first language. (after previewing the previewing the post the numbers cant be place like on the identification plate... Dang,,, wish I had read this at work, but someone will probably come up with the code for the white. It will be a 3 digit number only for sure. If someone doesn't answer tonight, I'll get it in the morning.

147 is your paint code.

Thank you very much!
Now time to go find the paint! :) 491 so this would be the gray underneath and 250 the black plastic trims? Still trying to figure how they place the color codes! |
White
So if my plate has these numbers:
3076497 123133 12 4E 1 06699 410 504 593 104585 440 519 639 0 451 531 2 737 G 467 546 491 588 803 Which is the paint code? From the previous post, I guessing 737, right? What are all the other numbers? I searched the forum for how to read the plate but I'm striking out. I plan to repaint. The car is white but I would like to repaint to a newer white with clear coat. Maybe metallic. Suggestions? |
