Hello all;
After doing a search I have not been able to come up with some answers. So here goes: I guess first, let me know if this is the correct forum. I was torn between this and the Detailing forum. I noticed a small whole, about 2” in diameter on the right rear floor panel. I was hoping I could clean the area with a brush bit (I think that is the name, its a round wire brush for attaching to a drill). Then apply some sheet metal screening and body putty. Next, apply some spray-on rubberized rustproof coating. I was going to raise the car and work from underneath rather then from inside the interior. Is this the best approach? Am I using the correct materials? Do I bolt the sheet metal to the floor pan, or should I just use the putty as an adhesive? Anyone have experience with working on the underbody they are willing to share? Any tips about method, tools, products that are best? Please share your stories/recommendations. Please provide information about any preventive measures that I can employ to insure that the body won't rust too badly, as I think I still have another 300K miles left in this car. Any posts would be appreciated. James 79 300CD 234000mi |
