My 1984 300SD its going under the die grinder tomorrow and a new rear window sill is being welded in. Then the rear windshield and seal are being replaced. I will post pictures of the end result. After this, I will have a rust free car .

I don't cut or weld on my car. It is being taken to a body shop. I will try and get as many pics as I can. So far the bill is not TOO BAD.

New Rear Windshield Sill: $80 from dealer
New Rear Windshield seal: $90 from fast line
New Rear Windshield $340 from loacl glass shop
Body shop labor: $200-$300 depending on how much rust the sill has arround it (owner owns a w126) .

Total ammount less than $850 i hope.

The sill is $80ish from mercedes part # 126-647-04-01 only 5 left in the USA.

I got my car back from the body shop last week and couldn't be more inpressed with there work. The glass shop on the other hand is a nightmare. I Called The Glass Doctor, to install a new rear windshield, and all that came from that is two distroyed inside trim pieces. I had to call the second glass shop to install a new rear windshield and fix the Glass Doctor's damage. Now I am fighting with the glass doctor to replace the two panals there tech trashed. I was quoted $325 each from my dealership. Does anyone have a w126 parts car with a gray interior in the event that the Glass Doctor doesn't make this right? I wil post lots of pics later tonight.

Thanks
-Joey

I recently had a 107 windshield replaced by the best place in town (not really saying all that much around here, admittedly):they do not guarantee that they can salvage the brightwork trim around the windshield on any car that uses brightwork trim. I removed it with vinyl wedges for them (except the corners, which I bought) and they reinstalled it perfectly. My old windshield was scratched and sandblasted, and the green tint band was actually wearing off (!). Nothing like a new windshield!
