rocker panel paint?
Is there any dressing that will make the black paint on the rocker panels look "fresh?" The paint on mine is intact and I have no rust, it is just kinda faded and unappealing and I'd like it to be a nice rich black . If there is no type of dressing that will do this I'd love paint and prep suggestions.

Any good tire shine product will work. The clear stuff that you don't wipe off will make your sills nice and shiney black.

What year is it?
If it looks gray, it isn't faded black. The Glasurit and PPG name for it is "galanit gray."
Give me a few days and I'll get the formula. PM me.

imho, tire dressing won't last long and you'll be doing this again as rocker panels will take more road abuse than the tires will.
my recommendation is to buy some grease and tar remover and clean the surface well. then you are open to alot of options from there depending on the severity of the wear on your rockers. there is rocker panel paint, regular spray paint, chip resistent undercoating paint, etc, etc. bob |

Ok here it is.
In PPG brand, it's DB 129 "Galanit Gray" It is not in most body color books but it is under subcategory 'cladding and accent.'
DCC34297 is the formula number but you might have to call a few paint dealers since not all them carry every chemical on the market. The rubberized coating is called "Gravitex" and IIRC, it is a 3M product, someone else might know if it isn't???

Any kind of semi gloss black paint will work fine. just wire brush any rusty areas and rust bind them first and allow a full day to dry before applying paint. it is an easy place to paint. You can just take a piece of cardboard with a straight edge and hold it along the bottom of the bodywork to keep the black off the doors.
It is one of the easiest places to make a big difference in how the car looks. Tom W
