Potential rust problem averted

When I bought my 85 300CD the lady told me someone had bumped the side just in front of the pass. door leaving an indentation. a body man told me all you have to do is take off the wheel well and pry it out, gently. which I did and the dip is gone. but while in there I found LOTS of wet dirt laying at the bottom of the body cavity-outer fender to inner fender. I cleaned it out as best that I could as well as the other side, too. I'll bet this is why you see Benz with rust spots in that area. It rusts from the inside out from years of stuff slung up in there.
Hope this tip helps someone preserve their beloved MB
