w123 rear passenger side footwell leak

I recently noticed the carpet in front of the rear passenger side seat in the footwell was wet. I waited a day and checked again and it was still wet. I took up the carpet and noticed the metal was wet. I sopped it up and left the carpet out to dry. I took a drive in the rain the next day and came home to find puddles where the carpet was. I figure there must be a leak somewhere, but nothing apparent. Does anyone have any advice?

The rear footwell is the low point in the car. You most likely have a leak in your windshield seal, under the battery tray against the firewall or in the hood hinge. The water enters at the front and runs to the back along the side under the black plastic piece that covers the vacuum lines along the door sill area.

You can search for the leaks/leaks with a garden hose. Start low and work your way up until you see water inside.

A clogged or disconnected A/C drain tube can also be the culprit. They sit inside the center console and exit through the center driveshaft hump. If they leak, they drain down the center driveshaft tunnel cover and exit just in front of the seatbelt mounting bolts.

I tried hosing it down, but didn't find anything, and it's not the air conditioning because it only fills up after I've driven in the rain and it filled up when the air conditioning was off and I drove in the rain, so I think I'll just wait till it rains again to find the leak.

Some leaks only come through after the seals have been saturated for a while.
