Painting stuff

We all know most of the engine compartment brackets are/were cadmium plated but it has been 20 plus years and the cadmium, a sacrificial plating has done its job and now leaves the engine compartment looking dull and not like Karug's or MBBeige's engine compartment.. lol

so I was bored and decided to try out some rustoleum on my deloreans radiator support brackets that are also supposed to be cadmium plated

not bad but not cadmium looking. Still looks better than total crap though. Also, Duplicolor makes an engine enamel that is a darker gold it is a little hard to find but I have it locally.

Eastwood makes a cadmium simulating kit for restoring that stuff if you really care that it looks just right.

If a real concours restoration is important, check out Caswell Plating. Many of their plating kits are not expensive and not really nasty. I get metal polishing stuff from them.

screw... concourse. I can get the brackets new for like $20 each.

off topic, to get my car concourse it would cost me $50,000......which im not doing.. I like driving my cars, not staring at them and wiping them down every night with a diaper. Cars are meant to be driven.

Looks good Joe. Are you still working on this kind of stuff or are you finishing up the fiberglass stuff?

lol I was too until I woke up one day and saw the light.

the $500 delorean we parted out.. we've raked in close to $3k off that carcass. That was a car with like nothing left on it... Mine is 90% complete.

part it out, nickle and dime everything and reap a massive profit. I only have $3k into the car and thats including the purchase price.

so, I'm going to come out ahead one I start parting it out. unless someone gives me $6k for it.
