Did they ever paint W126 cars monochromatic?

I saw an ad for a midnight blue 300SEL but it was all blue including the lower body cladding and bumpers. Not sure if I have seen this before. Owner says it is original, just wondering if someone could confirm?

Its not original....I highly doubt one would ever leave the factory that way. Unlessss....some weirdo wanted it that way and custom ordered it, that is possible I guess.

I am 99.9% sure that is not original.

It's a little hard to tell from that picture.

Perhaps in some markets....but I've never seen a W126 in the USA that was painted that way.

clearly not white on white.. The lower cladding is like a very very pale silver. The low quality of the pic hides the fact.

AMG cars were Monochromatic. Chrome and all.

Sorry to mention. Cladding was colour matched to car - white. Many W126's in Australia monochromatic. Red being a popular colour.

Here's another view of it. B.T.W. (My wife hated the matched cladding)

Non AMG's - from factory.

yeah I see it now. The angle and lighting threw me off.

That's odd for it to be monochromatic from the factory

I like the AMG, all-one-color look. If I get the Dee8gonator repainted, I aim to have everything painted the same color.
