Interior upholstery repair

The Car: 1999 C Class Elegance with Sun and Moon Roof.

The Problem:
The interior upholstery covering the sliding sun roof has come apart around the two air vents. The edges of the cloth won't stay tucked back in. I would like to remove the sun roof and re-glue the fabric. It seems as though I have to remove the entire assembly including the glass moon roof to get at the manually sliding roof. After sliding back the glass moon roof, I see six screws, three on each side, with the rear pair only partially accessible. Looks like a big job but I can handle it if this is the right way to go.

My Questions:
1. Is this the right way to go? If so, any help with instructions would be appreciated. I don't want to break anything!.
2. Can just the two plastic vents be removed?
3. Safe adhesive that won't damage the fabric??

Thanx 4 ur help!
