JBWeld question...
I know this stuff is great - I've used it successfully on some of my projects.
We just discovered that my dad's Toyota has a broken exhaust pipe underneath the car. It's most likely a welding project, but wanted to ask if it's at all a good idea for the JDWeld for this type of repair to just get by - or is the heat from the exhaust too much for that stuff... just wondering. THanks, James

I've seen that stuff used on the engine block itself, holding for years.

Exhaust, though?!
Yeah... but I don't know if the block gets as hot as the exhaust piping... guess we'll find out how it holds up -

You use heat to remove JBWeld so I'd guess the exhaust pipe repair won't work. Weld it.
I use a heat gun to remove JBWeld. It gets a lot hotter than the exhaust pipe does but when you heat it a bit you can see the epoxy changing its properties. |

Me either, there is (at least used to be) some exhaust pipe repair kits, of some kind, got one a long time ago, never did use it.

I used one of those kits to fix a broken cat on the BMW. It lasted about two weeks before failing again. If this is a short term fix, you can get the exhaust repair kit at the Autozoo... It has epoxy and a glass bandage you so can fiberglass up a hole or crack.
