finally painted my 124

thought I would take a break from the SL diesel project and get the paintwork done on my W124 daily driver.
it was a lot of work, but she is painted...

re-assemble, wet sand and buff, and back to work on the W107 diesel.

At first I thought you didn't remove the washer nozzles but now I see they are popped up out of the hole. You should have removed the door handles.

What color is it?

Looks good, looking forward to seeing it all back together.

I removed the door handle gaskets.. but left the handles in..
I planned to remove them, but I left the allen wrench at home when I was at the spraybooth... so they got taped up, which sucks but oh well
its the daily driver.

I am uploading some reassemble shots to the project page in a few min.. check back there for more ( and better quality ) photos

I like it and I'm working toward a similar goal. I don't have a paint both so I plan to do the prep work and have a pro do the rest.
Questions:
1. Did you do single stage or double stage (base coat, clear coat) paint and why? My original color is white single stage.
2. You just spray over the sun roof gasket or was it masked?

its two coats of single stage, with that last coat 50% single stage and 50% HS clearcoat

the sunroof gasket is pushed down a bit, and masked then when you remove the masking pull it back up and it comes out pretty good..

I'm planning to remove all the trunk badging except the star as shown in your new pictures. Makes it easier to polish as the star just bolts on and is easy to remove for polish.
