I was about to order touch up paint for my '83 300D. One of the websites queried if I wanted single stage paint (includes clearcoat) or 2 stage paint which I gather is the base paint and the 2nd clearcoat on top. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Some paints require a top coat of clear.

maybe some of the newer paints have the clear mixed in them already.

when I painted my PU, I used PPG Deltron. no clear coat. I just wax it once in a while, and the red looks like new. think it is a Uratane paint, and not sure that one is still available.

Painted the MB with that silver, and it has to be clear coated. problem with clear, it always peels.
you can get single stage paint. next time I paint the MB it will be single stage.

Clear can be applied over just about any of the paints Iam sure.
