Bumper Chrome Blister
I just noticed the beginning of a blister in the chrome on the bumper trim of my W126 300SEL.
I have no desire to get that trim rechromed, and I'm hoping one of the smart guys on this forum can give me a tip to protect or seal it before it comes off and then I'll have a bad spot on that bumper. Any ideas how to seal it before it lifts off without making the seal noticeable? Thanks in advance for any tips. |

Typically its rusting through from underneath. is this the front bumper by chance?

Yep, probably the tip of the iceberg. I dismantled my bumper when it started on the rear and the rust on the underside of the metal was terminal, there would be nothing to rechrome. I got a replacement on ebay that was a bit pitted but solid underneath.
You could try putting some rust converter in a syringe and trying to inject it though a tiny hole, not something I've tried just a thought. |

Yes, it's the front. Noticed a similar tiny spot on the rear too. Just finished repairing and painting replacement bumpers, and was going to just replace the chrome part, but I could see from the manual that getting that chrome trim off would be quite a job.
Thanks for the thoughts. |
