Crap Grille

When I had my 300CE painted, I put on a new grille, as the original one was pretty scratched up and dinged in numerous places. I bought the Ziegler replacement, which Performance Products assured me was OEM. Now, six months later, the Ziegler is rusting like crazy. Since I bought it three years ago (see my other posts about the multi year saga of my paint issue and the litigation it involved), I can't return it. I guess I'll just have to pony up three bills for a true OEM grille if I want a new one.

I'll try and take a decent picture of the rusty grille. It was raining this morning.

Yeah, I'd be interested. Does it have a bit of luster left?

Looks great! What did it come off of? How much do you want for it?

Came off my '82 300D.
Come and get it, or pay my fuel bill and buy me a beer.

oops. I don't think that'll fit onto my W124 300CE. I like the price, though. My 300D already has a fine grille, though.

I have an aftermarket grille for the 107 and I've noticed that the aftermarket doesn't paint the inside of the part (like MB did). Before winter closes in, I'm going to paint the inside of mine with POR-15 or two-part epoxy (which should stick with a little buffing with a 3M buffer beforehand to rough it up). I think the lack of inside paint contributes to the shorter lifetime of these parts. Also, no chrome, no matter who made it, is going to go through a snowy winter unscathed without a lot of cleaning and waxing.
