W124 bumper ?

Busted part of the bumper on our '87 W124 300TD, and trying to determine exactly what part/s I need to order. The most prominent part of the bumper is fine, but it's the top of the part surrounding it that is damaged. Do I need both the most prominant part and the part surrounding it. I've seen wht is called the bumper cover, which appears to be both parts. Should I go with the 'Benz OEM part or after market?

Thanks in advance for any assitance.

You're going to need an entire new bumper if you want to fix that. Only removable part is the middle impact strip. Luckily, you have an early car without painted bumpers. So finding a replacement bumper at a local Pull-N-Pay style junkyard should be $50< and super easy....since the older W124 (No cladding, Gray bumpers) is usually all I typically see.....and it just pops right on with no paint work needed.

Bumper cover = Bumper. That's just what the rest of the car world calls them....Bumper covers. So yes, you can buy an aftermarket, primed, bumper "cover" but it will be of flimsy construction, and require paint work. I would try to find a good used OEM at a local salvage yard....for half the cost of a crappy aftermarket mold.
