Installing new door seals

Hello to all!

Both door seals on mu 1991 300E are cracked, ripped, and have little chunks missing and in need of replacement.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Is the seal in a groove in the door or does it have clips in the 124? What is the best adhesive to use?
Any information would be appreciated. I've searched this forum and havn't found any specifics for a 124

Nick

The only way I've fixed these seals is by replacing them. I have never found a way to fix them that lasted longer than a couple of months. Anyone have any success out there?

You are probably right. The adhesive comment threw me. I was thinking he was trying to build them back up. I haven't replaced one of these seals in a very long time, and the one I replaced was held in by clips and the car's molding.

Yep, the only way I know to get them to stop leaking is to replace them. I did try some mixtures to fix them. None of them worked longer than a couple of weeks.

Are they glued and clipped in place? Or just clipped?

Did you ever get around to replacing your seals. I'm in need of new seals for my front doors for my 1987 300sdl, what brand did you end up with? Are you happy with them?

I did replace the seals on both front doors of my 1991 300E.
I don't remember the brand names of the seals but I did get them on e-Bay. They were around $70 for the pair. Mercedes wanted, if I remember correctly, around $120 each.
Installing them was a snap although unbolting the door checks on each side were a pain. They fit right into channels in the door and I used a touch of 3M glue in the corners.
The only negative is that I have to slam the doors shut until they get broken in...although my kids love that part!
