Minor Trunk Rust Help?
Hey Guys,
I have some surface rust in the truck of my R107 (see pic). I'd like to get it cleaned up/stopped, but I'm not looking to win any competitions or anything. What's the best route to go for something like this? Thanks!

Wire brush the surface and then use a product like RustBullet, you can then top coat with whatever flavor of black paint you'd like. POR15 is good, but the amount of prep is ridiculous. RustBullet is easy, sand and paint.

The next question I would ask is "how did it get so rusty? Do you have a leak that is allowing water in?
I would consider POR-15 for this, simply for durability's sake. Prepping is most the work.

I'm going to be replacing the trunk seal to be sure, but I think it's just a matter of small amounts of moisture getting trapped under that rubber mat they had in there.

There is a lot of scaling there. It looks like more than a small leak. I'd look around carefully.
You may want to try spraying around the outside of the trunk with a hose to see if you can imitate the leaks. A pressure washer on low would be better.

Yeah, once I get it out of the back of the garage I'll have to try that. She won't be seeing too much rain for a while anyway, as she has no soft top right now...
