W123 suspension springs - a question about coatings
G'day Folks,
I've got a bit of a surface rust issue on my suspension springs. I tried ye olde POR15 and the flexible chassis top coating but I'm not happy with the results. Firstly I made the mistake of brushing the POR15 on the spring which I found pretty difficult to do nicely - you get runs and drips and as far as I can tell it hasn't stuck on particularly well. So I'm now busy with my angle grinder and wire brush attachment. Typically "everyone" seems to go for powder coating which is fine I suppose - but I can't do that myself. Does anyone have an alternative to powder coating? There used to be a product called plasticoat but I can't find it on the internet for all of the other 1000 hits I get... would a spray on plastic coating be a good idea? I want something that will still look good after I've reinstalled the springs with that sharp edged pain in the arse spring compressor...

It might be out of your budget, but new springs might also provide better ride height & handling.
