Jack-Port ROT.
Why do expensive cars ROT? Previous Benz's owned, 1980, 83, 85, and 1987, 123, 124, 107, and 190...all rotted at the jack-ports within 8 years, and on the 87 in addition, rot also at rear spring perch, starboard side! The 603 with 300K would outlive my grandchildren....but the 124 body...noooo! I'd buy another Benz if not for the rot! Such a shame!

Oh don't be so hard on them. Nobody is perfect! Buy another one, keep it out of the salt.

This isn't very complicated, steel + oxygen = rust. How much rust is down to you.
|
It's still a bad design... it rusts much more readily than the cheaper, simpler "two edges of steel welded" on most cars and the "port" lets the car roll off the jack if you are not careful which the normal car "two edges" and scissor jack doesn't happen either.
