Bumper removal- beaten by 2 bolts!!

Hi, I am trying to swap the damaged rear bumper on a 1999 Clk convertible. I have managed to remove the bolts from within the boot/trunk but cannot figure out the fixings that attach the bumper to the wheel arch. There are metal clips on each side that pivot out by about 90 degrees as well as a bolt on each side, these bolts just spin when I turn them. Can anyone tell me how to free the bumper?

Did you try to pull the bumper from the car? Sometimes there is a groove in the bumper cover and a knob ( the bolt you are trying to remove) that mounts to the body.

This allows for rapid assembly at the factory as the installer does not have to line all the bolts up just start the groove and push forward.
