2002 E wagon ,lift gate replacement

Hello Mercedes owners and fans, I own a 2002 E320 wagon and this car is the most suitable and practical car I have ever owned.
I might be doing this in the wrong order, but hopefully I am not on a dead end road: the back door has a lot of rust around the back window and after a bit of browsing found a perfect tail gate that I have purchased with the plan on replacing mine with the no rust one.I did not take possession of it yet but it was purchased and the guys when they took it off the old car had to cut the wiring(apparently could unplug them). This was ,in my mind an easy project, where I unbolt mine off, bolt new in and plug the wires..
Anybody has any experience and some advice on how do I proceed ,once I get it ,in order to put new in and have everything work on it?!
Thank you very much!!
