Frame Rail repair, behind front tires '85 300TD

Hi Everyone. I picked up a bum 1985 300TD wagon from NJ for $1300. I was really excited when I bought it but that feeling soon evaded me when I neglected to jack up the car and intently look at the frame. If I had, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

I took it to my welder who marked the frame in Sharpie. The plan is to pull the under coating back (either with a flap disk or a wire wheel) and use a cut off wheel to cut out the section, as it's too thin to weld to.

I'm dropping the car off Wednesday to my welder. I'll ask him to take pictures of the remainder of the process.
